Amy Adams wins 'Best Actress' Saturn Award

Excellent news here -- Amy Adams took home the 'Best Actress' award at the Saturn Awards 2008, held yesterday evening at the Universal Hilton Hotel in Universal City.

"Enchanted" won two other major awards including 'Best fantasy film' and 'Best Music' which went to the legendary Alan Menken. Congratulations to Disney & the "Enchanted" team, but also kudos to the voters of the Saturn Awards who recognized their wonderful talent!

So far, I haven't seen any pictures from the event but I doubt Amy was there to receive her award. By the way, in case you didn't know, she is also nominated for a Teen Choice Award. The ceremony will air on Fox on August 4th, 2008. You can vote for Amy here.

The UK Premiere of 'Miss Pettigrew lives for a day' is tonight at the Edinburgh Film Festival so I hope Amy will be there with the cast & crew to present the movie!

The MTV Movie Awards fiasco!

Despite what the Los Angeles Times announced earlier yesterday, Amy Adams didn't show up at the MTV Movie Awards. I bet the nominees were told a few days before the show if they won or not.

Amy didn't win a single award (they went to Johnny Depp, Ellen Page and Briana Evigan & Robert Hoffman for, respectively, "Best Comedic Performance", "Best Actress" and "Best Kiss"). C'mon this is clearly a popular vote as opposed to a performance-related award!

In a way, I guess I'm glad she didn't show up because it would have been a total waste of time. In fact, she's probably being very professionnal as usual and chose to rehearse for "Night at the Museum 2" rather than go to this (useless) ceremony!

Cheer up Meerkats -- when the time comes, we'll definitely get our Amy Adams dose, but for more respected events :-) I'll post videos of "Standing Still" and "Cruel Intentions 2" in the days to come and we still have the "Miss Pettigrew lives for a day" European Premiere at the Edinburgh Film Festival to look forward to. Amy's presence in Scotland has not been confirmed but I stopped trusting magazines/newspapers anyways coz they keep announcing that she will be there when in fact she's not coming (remember the American Idol fiasco?).

Altogether now: "Amy, we looooooooooooove you!!"

Amy Adams confirmed to attend MTV awards

Good news: the LA Times confirms that Amy Adams will attend the MTV Movie Awards on June 1. YAY -- how cool is that?

Do you think Amy will wear a very fancy dress at the event or jeans like at the Sundance Film Festival (see right picture)?

This year's MTV Movie Awards ceremony is hosted by Mike Myers. It's set to kick off live from the Gibson Ampitheatre in Universal City on Sunday at 8 p.m.

Amy, whatever happens tomorrow -- you're a total winner in our hearts!!

The MTV Movie Awards Presenters list has also been revealed and Amy is not in it. But that doesn't mean she won't be at the ceremony on June 1. Kathryn Adams is sure daughter Amy will win an Oscar

Kathryn Adams didn't seem to mind that her daughter didn't win an Oscar in 2006.

Adams' daughter and former Colorado resident, Amy (pictured on the left with her sister), was nominated for Best Supporting Actress for her performance in Junebug.

While Kathryn, dressed in a black dress and wearing a Marilyn Monroe-inspired wig, attended the Denver Film Society's Oscar party at the University of Denver, her daughter sat anxiously in Los Angeles at the Kodak Theatre.

When the award was announced, both Adams women clapped excitedly for winner Rachel Weisz, nominated for her role in The Constant Gardener.

"I'm absolutely so proud," Adams, who lives in Denver, said of her daughter's nomination. "It fills my whole soul with pride."

This was the first nomination for the actress who got her start at Boulder's Dinner Theatre and the Country Dinner Playhouse in the 1990s.

The former Coloradan now lives in West Hollywood, her mother said.

"I believe that her time will come," Adams said. "I believe with all my heart that she will win an Oscar."

Repost: "So Close" at the Academy Awards

This blog entry is not directly related to Amy, but the video clip of "So Close" at the Oscars was kindly requested by Amanda so I couldn't say no :) Patrick Dempsey is presenting Jon McLaughin and the context of the nominated song. Please note that Amy Adams is NOT the girl who is dancing on stage. Amy was without a doubt skilled enough to do her own dancing but she probably didn't have the time to rehearse for that.

Ross from "Jay Leno" ambushes Amy at the Oscars

Ross, the Intern Oscar Report from the Tonight Show, attended the Oscars where he "ambushed" Amy. They showed the video on Jay Leno last week on February 25. You can view the clip below - Amy is near the end of the video.

Thank you very much to Simon for the alert :-)

Getting over the Oscars' "adrenaline hangover"

At the Paris Commune restaurant after-party, Amy Adams said she was finally getting over the “adrenaline hangover” from her Oscar night musical performance and added that she met McDormand for the first time at the 78th Academy Awards.

“We both were nominated, and I really, really wanted to work with her,” Adams said. “Then this script came about, and I loved the character.”

Oscar-winners directors Ethan and Joel Coen also attended the Premiere of “Miss Pettigrew Lives for a Day.”

"It's a relief" says Amy after Oscars performance

On the right picture, Amy Adams finally takes a break from her crazed Oscars day, heading out of the Governor's Ball.

"I was in rehearsals all day from 9 a.m.", she says.

The highlight? "When I finished singing! It was such a relief! It's been the only thing on my mind for a while so it's nice that that's behind me now."

After her performance, Amy blew a kiss to Enchanted nominees Alan Menkell and Stephen Schwartz, who both appeared to be very proud of their "protegee".

On the red carpet, a journalist asked her if she considered herself as an established singer. Amy replied "I'm an actress who sings!".

You're being modest, Amy. After all, you recorded at the famous Abbey Road studios in London for Miss Pettigrew lives for a day and two of your songs were nominated at the Oscars!

No wonder the media now refers to Amy as an "actress-singer" or an "Oscar-nominated singer".

Amy and Tom Hanks backstage - Oscars 2008

Backstage at the Kodak Theatre, Tom Hanks was spotted larking around with his Charlie Wilson's War and Catch me if you can co-star Amy Adams, and as the make-up lady came over with a powder puff, a clutch of photographers started snapping away as they were both touched up.

"Oh, get a picture of this,'' said Hanks. "Nothing embarrassing about being backstage. Oh look at Tom Hanks. He stormed the beach at Normandy in Saving Private Ryan and here is he is with a powder puff on his face.''

Amy attends AIDS charity party on Oscar night

After the traditional Governors Ball, official after-party for the Oscars, Amy attended one of the evening's best attended parties: the Elton John AIDS Foundation Academy Awards party in Los Angeles.

The Oscar night gala, which was held at the Pacific Design Center and co-sponsored by Chopard and VH1, raised $5.1 million for charity.

The event included dinner, a musical performance by Elton John and a live auction. Other guests included Marion Cotillard, Josh Groban, Prince, Stevie Wonder, Sharon Stone, Harrison Ford and many more celebrities!

Chenoweth and Tilda Swinton compliment Amy!

The 80th Academy Awards ceremony was followed by the Governors Ball, which is the postshow party where Oscar nominees, winners, presenters and performers celebrate.

Amy was of course among the invited celebrities and received warm compliments by many stars.

"You were the greatest," said "Best Supporting Actress" Tilda Swinton to Adams, hugging her. "You were just so fantastic in Enchanted."

Kristen Chenoweth also ran up to Adams, telling her she was "so adorable" performing on stage.

Cheryl Boone Isaacs, an Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences governor, chaired the annual event while the food for the party was hosted by Chef Wolfgang Puck.

Amy awards "Best original score"

Film composer Marianelli wins the "Best original score" Academy Award. Amy looks so happy to be presenting an Oscar!

The Amy Adams Award goes to...

On an annual basis, the Grand Rapids Press recognize the Academy Awards' best moments by their very own "Serbie awards". This year, they invented the "Award for vibrancy and poise" - or what they rather like to call - the "Amy Adams Award".

According to them, Amy deserves to be praised for her vibrancy and poise for her performance of nominated Enchanted tune "Happy Working Song".

"Standing alone on a bare stage, she sang with verve and gusto, proving. A) that's really Amy Adams' voice, and it's amazing, B) Amy Adams could honk noisily into a handkerchief on stage for three minutes and still be adorable, and C) this may be the last Amy Adams Award for Vibrancy and Poise, because so few people have vibrancy and poise like Amy Adams".

Pictured left with Amy is Oscar winner Dario Marianelli ("Best score" for Atonement).

Amy's TV Guide interview on the red carpet

The girl who interviews Amy completely messes up. I would be so embarrassed if I were her!
Her ignorance is almost disrespectful.
