The reality show "American Idol" is all about finding the country's next big singer. This evening, however, the show takes a detour and instead has some of the country's biggest stars coming out for "Idol Gives Back".
The two-and-a-half hour show features performances by Miley Cyrus, Carrie Underwood, John Legend, Annie Lennox, Gloria Estefan, Mariah Carey, Fergie and Ann and Nancy Wilson of Heart.
Many other celebs — including Bono, Adam Sandler, Jennifer Connelly, Julianne Moore, Jim Carey and of course Amy Adams — pre-taped messages that will be shown during Wednesday's broadcast.
All these stars and more will encourage America to donate to a good cause. This year's six charities are: the Children’s Defense Fund; the Global Fund to Fight Aids, Tuberculosis and Malaria; Make It Right; Malaria No More; Save the Children; and the Children’s Health Fund.
"Idol Gives Back" airs on FOX at 7:30/6:30c on Wednesday.
