Amy Adams in "Standing Still" (2005)

"Standing Still" is finally out on DVD in the UK and we now have a few videos clips of the movie featuring Amy. It tells the story of Michael (Adam Garcia, who played Fiyero in the London version of "Wicked" opposite Idina Menzel) and Elise (Amy Adams) who are about to get married and decide to gather their high school and college friends together.

Here's a couple of videos from "Psycho Beach Party", filmed in 2000. Amy Adams shows off her dancing skills in the first video -- an absolute must see! EDIT: the sound doesn't seem to work in the second clip so I'm gonna try to upload it again. sorry about that!

The movie stars Lauren Ambrose as Florence Forrest, a not-so-innocent girl in 1960's Malibu who becomes "Chicklet" the first girl surfer at Malibu Beach, only Florence suffers from dissociative identity disorder and occasionally her alter ego Ann Bowman, a sexually aggressive, foul-speaking girl, comes out in which during that time several beach goers are found murdered.

Amy Adams in "Catch me if you can" (2002)

"Catch me if you can" tells the true story of Frank Abagnale Jr (Leonardo Di Caprio) who successfully impersonated an airline pilot, doctor, assistant attorney general and history professor, cashing more than $2.5 million in fraudulent checks in 26 countries. This 2002 movie is directed by Steven Spielberg and co-stars Tom Hanks, Christopher Walken and Nathalie Baye. Amy Adams plays Brenda Strong, a young nurse with whom Abagnale Jr. falls in love.

Amy Adams on Conan O'Brien in July 1999

Here's a video of Amy Adams promoting "Manchester Prep" (Cruel Intentions 2) on Conan O'Brien. The show aired on 23 July 1999. It was Amy's first big interview on national television.

UPDATE: Just added a video of Amy appearing for the second time on the Late Night seven years after her first appearance - more precisely on 7 February 2006. She talks about her Oscar nomination for "Junebug" and her past experience in dinner theater and at Hooters.

Amy Adams in "The Last Run" (2004)

"The Last Run" (2004) tells the story of a young accountant who is devastated after discovering that his girlfriend is cheating on him. His best friend Jack, who's engaged to a girl he doesn't love (Alexis, played by Amy Adams), convinces him to go on a "run" and sleep with as many women as he can to get over his heart break. Amy only have a minor role in "The Last Run" so her appearance is very limited. Enjoy the video clips!

Amy Adams in Junebug (2005)

Those video clips are certainly not new for most of you - but I thought I'd just post a few clips from "Junebug", where Amy Adams plays a pregnant good soul who becomes enchanted with her sophisticated new sister-in-law.

Amy says she had no idea how significant this supporting role in a domestic drama set in North Carolina would be to her career. "I knew that it was important that I did it. I try to look at my projects as more than just what they're going to do for my career because ultimately you never know whether it's going to be successful or whether it's going to be the last thing you ever work on."

"It takes a lot of love for the film -which we all have -so it's not really a job," Adams remarks. It was shot in 21 days on location in Winston-Salem, the small North Carolina city where it is set, and premiered at the 2005 Sundance Festival, where Amy won a special jury prize.

As the fourth of seven children, Amy understood the dynamics that make Junebug tick. "I knew her," she recalls, about first reading the script. "I felt as if I automatically went, okay, I know. I come from a big family where there's a lot of competition, so for me that never needed to be explained. What you're going to get out of this film all depends on your experience in life. And I really do think most people get something from it."

Junebug is that rare work these days to make a plot point of religion in neither a proselytising nor a satiric way. "If anything, that's the fabric that holds these people together, so at the end, where Ashley has the moment of questioning her worth with God, that's huge to her." And Ashley's guilelessness doesn't mean she is stupid. "It's easy to make that assumption: that if you approach things with a sense of naivete, you are dim. I've heard Ashley called 'the dimwitted chatterbox'. But I don't feel the need to defend her. I think the film shows that being good is not always the easy choice."

Amy Adams knows full well that Ashley cannot be the sum total of her career. "That's what's weird. Sometimes, I think, that's one performance, just one role, but she meant a lot to me." As she doubtless will to those who seek out this sweet, small film.

Amy Adams attends Film Society Gala

The multiple Oscar winner Meryl Streep was honored by The Film Society of Lincoln Center Monday night at a star-studded gala -- and, along with celebs like Uma Thurman, Glenn Close, Stanley Tucci and of course Amy Adams. The Insider was there and posted a video of all the stars who attended - check it out, Amy appears toward the end and apparently kept her gorgeous long hair! Click on the picture to watch the clip. Amy Adams in "Buffy" (2000) episode "Family"

This post is dedicated to Julie Powell, whom I'd like to thank for posting very interesting comments in the previous entry. Julie, I know you're a fan of Buffy - did you imagine one second that one of the guest actors would play your own character? So odd.

In 2000, Amy Adams appeared in the fifth season of "Buffy" as Beth Maclay, in the sixth episode called "Family". The storyline is about Tara's brother Donny, her father and her cousin Beth (Amy Adams) visiting her to bring her back home, since she would have a demon inside that would unleash in her twentieth anniversary.

This episode aired on November 7th, 2000 in the US. It's certainly not Amy's best part but hey, at least she can say that she's part of the "Buffy" legacy!

Repost: "So Close" at the Academy Awards

This blog entry is not directly related to Amy, but the video clip of "So Close" at the Oscars was kindly requested by Amanda so I couldn't say no :) Patrick Dempsey is presenting Jon McLaughin and the context of the nominated song. Please note that Amy Adams is NOT the girl who is dancing on stage. Amy was without a doubt skilled enough to do her own dancing but she probably didn't have the time to rehearse for that.

Amy Adams in "Charmed" (2000) episode "Murphy's Luck"

Amy Adams appeared in the second season of "Charmed" alongside Shannen Doherty, Alyssa Milano and Holly Marie Combs.

Prue (Shannen Doherty) finds a photographer who is sufficiently impressed by her portfolio to give her a test-job, but the subject is Maggie Murphy (Amy Adams), a good-hearted girl who is made desperate to the point of suicide by a special dark lighter with the power to make accidents happen and make her feel unbearably guilty by an inner voice, thus preventing her becoming a white lighter.

Arnold Vosloo ("The Mummy") also stars in this sixteenth episode called "Murphy's Luck".

This was one of Amy's first acting jobs when she moved to Los Angeles.

This episode first aired on March 30th, 2000 in the US.

Amy Adams in Talladega Nights (2006)

Added 5 video clips of "Talladega Nights", a 2006 movie with Amy Adams and Will Ferrell about Ricky Bobby, a Nascar racing sensation who wants to be known as the world's top driver.

The film is directed by Adam McKay and co-stars Jon C. Reilly, Sasha Baron Cohen, Michael Clarke Duncan, Leslie Bibb, Gary Cole and Jane Lynch.

Amy plays Susan, Ricky's assistant. She gives him a motivational speech when he’s at his lowest in the following video clip.

You may also recognize actor Jack McBrayer ("30 Rock") in the film. He's now very good friends with Amy and even attended the Miss Pettigrew lives for a day Premiere in New York last month. He appears in the following clip:

The film grossed $47,042,215 in its first week, becoming the #1 film at the box office. It is biggest opening for a film starring Will Ferrell.

Amy Adams talks about fairytales in the City of Lights

Added 4 video interviews recorded in October 2007 in Paris. Amy Adams was in France for the promotion of "Enchanted" ("Il était une fois"). Amy Adams in Charlie Wilson's War (2006) - Part 2

Amy Adams in "Charlie Wilson's War" (2007) - Part 1

Amy Adams plays Bonnie Bach, a congressional administrative assistant to Tom Hanks's character in "Charlie Wilson's War". It tells the story of Charlie Wilson, a rogue congressman and CIA operative, who makes a conspiracy to arm Afghan rebels against invading Soviet forces. Amy describes her character as "his Gal Friday.”

The following clip is "a very fun scene" according to Amy. It shows her first meeting with Julia Robert's character.

Those scenes were shot in October 2006 in Morroco.

Amy doesn't have a lot of lines in the scene that follows. You can easily tell by watching it that Amy/Bonnie is full of respect for Tom/Charlie. "Just to be on that set and learn from these people and get to watch Philip Seymour Hoffman and Tom Hanks do these amazing scenes together, directed by Mike Nichols, it was for me like going to school.” adds Amy.

Watch "Pennies" - a short film starring Amy Adams

Great news - you can now watch the short movie "Pennies" starring Amy Adams below. Thanks a million to Matthew Grant who directed/produced this short film and gave us all the information we needed. Matthew and Amy's boyfriend Darren also appear in it. Production on "Pennies" started in 2002 and finished in 2003, but wasn't released until 2006. Eventually it aired on Comcast Cable after being in several film festivals. Enjoy and please leave a comment to let us know what you think of "Pennies"!
